Stuck On You is James Hammel's third project and it's a jazz focused album dedicated to R&B/Jazz great, Bobby Caldwell, who passed away in 2023. Bobby has had a significant impact on James' writing and performing styles. Bobby wrote the title track, Stuck On You. Songs include traditional jazz standards (Cole Porter, Richard Rodgers, Nat King Cole, Johnny Mercer/Jimmy Van Huesen, and Depaul/Raye). The album also includes a Latin standard (Antonio Carlos Jobim), and pop/jazz songs (Michael Franks, Kenny Rankin and Bobby Caldwell).
The project was recorded at Seclusion Hill Studios in Asheville, NC by Phil Ludwig. Arranged/produced by James Hammel. Musicians, all hailing from the Asheville area, include James Hammel (vocals/guitars), Justin Ray (trumpet), Jacob Rodriguez (saxophone), Taylor Pierson (piano), Zack Page (bass), Rick Dilling (drums), Justin Watt (drums), and River Guerguerian (percussion).
